Founded in North Texas, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need, whether abandoned, neglected, or surrendered; by placing them in safe, nurturing foster homes while they await their perfect forever families.
We’re not just about saving lives; we’re about transforming them. Many of our dogs come from heartbreaking situations, but with patience, care, and socialization, they rediscover what it means to trust, thrive, and just be a dog again. From the moment they’re rescued to the day they’re adopted, we make sure every step is guided by kindness and dignity.
Our network of passionate fosters, volunteers, and supporters is the heart of Stray to Play. Together, we provide medical care, training, and unconditional love to give each dog the fresh start they deserve.
Whether you’re looking to adopt, foster, or support our mission, you’re not just changing a dog’s life—you’re joining a movement that believes play, love, and safety should be every dog’s right, not a privilege.
Every stray deserves a chance to play.
Thank you for being part of their journey
Justin’s passion for animals began at a young age, caring for horses and learning the importance of responsibility and compassion. That early connection to animals laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to rescue.
Now the proud dad of seven rescue dogs, Justin plays a key role as cofounder of Stray to Play and is actively involved in every step of the rescue process; from intake and transport to vet visits and adoptions. His dedication and heart are at the core of our mission, and his hands-on approach ensures that every dog gets the care, love, and second chance they deserve.
Justin dedicates all his spare time to helping animals and people in need! Rescue is his passion and Stray to Play is his lifeline.
Valerie’s journey into animal rescue began on the back of a horse, literally. Raised on a horse rescue, she grew up surrounded by animals in need and learned the values of compassion, care, and hard work from an early age. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for helping animals of all kinds.
With over a decade of professional experience in the animal care world, Valerie has developed a deep understanding of pet behavior, animal medicine, grooming, and beyond. Her well-rounded expertise plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of Stray to Play Rescue.
At home, she shares her life with three beloved dogs and one sassy kitty, all rescued, of course. For Valerie, rescue isn’t just a cause, it’s who she is.
